Power Line Note: There is a power line that runs into the restaurant that could be reached from the balcony of Quarto do Fernando. We do not recommend this room for young children. Please do not touch the power line.

Note About Recent Fires: A wildfire affected the Avô area in August, 2025. At this time, there are ongoing issues with electricity, internet, and cell coverage at the hotel while the area recovers from the devastation. The hills around the hotel are blackened. It will take time to recover. We are keeping the hotel open in case anyone needs lodging, but we cannot guarantee some amenities like Netflix,WiFi, and AC.

Pessoa was a solitary and enigmatic figure, a man of contrasts who spent much of his life in Lisbon working as a translator and writer. Though he lived quietly and modestly, his inner life was incredibly rich, marked by a profound sense of introspection and a fascination with the multiplicity of identity. He is often described as introspective, melancholic, and intellectual, yet his inner world was populated by various “heteronyms”—fictional personas with distinct biographies, writing styles, and worldviews that he created to express different facets of himself.
